關於本活動
Open Communities' Fair Housing 101 presentation covers the principle fair housing rights that are available to everyone. This training covers the broad protections in the federal Fair Housing Act, gives an overview of local protections in Illinois as well as in Cook County, and helps community members understand how to recognize violations and take action. Some of the topics include reasonable accommodations for tenants, source of income protections for individuals who pay their rent using non-wage income, and the rights of people with prior involvement with the justice system when they are applying for housing.
This training is open to all community members who would like to learn more about their fair housing rights (and ways to take action when housing discrimination occurs), as well as landlords who would like to learn more about their responsibilities under the law. All are welcome!
