Illinois Rental Payment program is an emergency rental assistance program designed to support households in Illinois who cannot pay rent due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Eligible households may receive up to 15 months of assistance for missed rent from June 2020 through August 2021.

The application will be a joint application from the housing provider and the tenant. We strongly encourage you to communicate with each other and begin preparing your materials.

Priority will be given to:

  • Households with a member who is currently unemployed.

  • Households below 50% of the Area Median Income, adjusted for household size.

The emergency rental assistance is provided by the Federal government and is free to tenants and housing providers. If approved, the grant will be paid to the housing provider in the form of a check.

The application portal opens on Mon., June 28, 2021, and closes on

Sun., July 18, 2021. Click here to learn more and apply

We are here to help north and northwest suburban Chicago residents navigate the application process, access to computers and the internet, and questions about qualifications.
